About the Role As a Junior Planner at Summit Homes Group, you will play an important role in supporting the planning and approvals process for residential building projects across Western Australia. Working within the Pre-Construction team, you will assist in assessing designs for planning compliance and contribute to achieving timely project approvals to enable construction commencement. This role provides exposure across the full approvals lifecycle, including planning approvals, building permits, developer applications, and utility authority submissions. Key responsibilities include reviewing proposed home designs against R-Codes, Local Development Plans and Residential Design Codes, assisting with planning assessments and justification reports, and liaising with local governments, developers, certifiers and internal stakeholders. You will also support BA20 and BA20A applications, assess land and development constraints, and provide compliance feedback to sales, drafting and design teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career planner looking to develop practical experience within a fast-paced residential construction environment. About You You are a motivated and detail-oriented emerging planning professional who is eager to develop your career within residential construction and urban development. You enjoy analysing design outcomes, interpreting planning requirements, and working collaboratively to achieve compliant and efficient project outcomes. You will bring: A tertiary qualification (completed or near completion) in Town Planning or a related discipline Understanding of WA planning regulations, R-Codes and Local Government policies Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare planning justifications Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills with confidence liaising with stakeholders A proactive, team-focused approach and willingness to learn Exposure to local government, residential building, or planning environments will be highly regarded but is not essential.
