The roles ONI is recruiting for multiple current and possible future analyst vacancies at the EL1 classification in our Intelligence Assessments Divisions. Our Intelligence Analysts apply high level analytical tradecraft and research acumen to generate assessments and briefings on matters of political, strategic and economic significance to Australia. Our analysts help inform national security decision making by providing the Prime Minister and other members of the National Security Committee of Cabinet with intelligence-based advice, analysis and assessments. Our analysts specialise in delivering insight by rigorously synthesising, distilling and analysing information to meet our customers’ needs. We draw on all sources of information available to the Australian Government including material covertly collected by other intelligence agencies, diplomatic reporting, open-source intelligence, and insights we gather from talking to world-leading experts in business, academia and think-tanks. As an EL1 team member you will: Plan, develop, edit and deliver strategic intelligence products that ensure ONI has policy impact, through analytical rigour, effective prioritisation and sound business processes. Provide high-quality briefings to senior customers and provide timely input to policy processes. Cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across government, with external experts, and with foreign partners. Represent ONI at, a variety of internal and external meetings and working groups. Foster ONI’s analytical principles and standards, and contribute to staff and analytical capability development. Your experience and knowledge may have been developed while working for the Australian government in a diplomatic, policy or intelligence role. Or you may have a think tank, academic, private sector or other relevant background. At the EL1 classification we look for deep subject matter expertise, astute decision making, and the aptitude for coordinating and collaborating with other NIC agencies.
