Your primary goal will be to create and implement transport solutions that proactively address current and emerging travel needs in the community. In this role, you will lead the planning and development of proposals for public transport service enhancements, secure approvals, and ensure the successful implementation of changes. The role is available as a temporary part-time opportunity 3 days per week until 1st September 2026, with a possibility of extension. The Network Planning And Delivery Team Is Part Of Service Planning And Infrastructure Unit Which Has Responsibility For The Service Specification Of All Passenger Transport Modes Across Queensland. The Team Plans And Grows Bus And Ferry Services Across Queensland. The Team Integrates The Multi-modal Network To Increase Journey Opportunities For Our Community. We Do This Through Specifying the network and timetables to meet customer needs, accommodate system constraints and make efficient use of resources. Developing and delivering a program of service changes across Queensland. Working with our delivery partners to maximise the efficiency of the network. Supporting strategic planning and advocating for investment to improve community travel options. The Role Some of your responsibilities as our Senior Planner will include: Manage the planning and development of proposals for public transport service improvements, communicate and gain approval and successfully implement associated service changes. Analyse data and undertake high level timetable preparation to inform service or network changes and ensure proposed service changes are operationally affordable and can be implemented. Monitor and evaluate service performance to ensure investment represents value for money for the state government. Influence internal and external stakeholders in collaborative manner to address issues and identify opportunities for public transport networks. Provide timely input to correspondence (Cabinet submissions, ministerial correspondence, customer concerns and briefing notes) and provide advice into matters such as development applications and strategic planning to meet government requirements. About You The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification and/or possess demonstrated professional experience in transport planning, urban planning, transport economics, or a similar field, with previous experience in public transport network and service planning being highly regarded. You will thrive in complex environments, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing expectations by proactively adjusting your approach as needed. Your ability to make insightful decisions will be evident through your critical analysis of detailed information, clear articulation of decision rationales, and collaboration with others to identify and mitigate potential biases. Strong relationship-building skills are crucial, as you will communicate clearly and deliberately, tailoring your message to suit different stakeholders while fostering positive and mutually beneficial connections. You will also excel in driving accountability and achieving outcomes by contributing to team objectives, recognising your role in results, and demonstrating effective planning and organisation. Finally, you will bring a strong focus on governance, proactively identifying and managing risks, evaluating solutions, and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
