About The Role BRG is seeking an experienced Defence Commercial and Contracts Manager to support a maritime customer within a complex, high-tempo Defence environment. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of commercial activities and contract performance across multiple Defence projects. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in Commercial Contract Management, Contract Administration, Defence Contracting, and Procurement , with demonstrated experience working across ASDEFCON contract suites and Defence acquisition processes. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining compliance and effective stakeholder engagement. Key Details Location: Cairns, QLD (travel may be required if the resource is not local) Work Arrangement: Up to 3 days working from home Security Clearance: NV1 – Negative Vetting Level 1 Citizenship: Australian citizen required Duties & Responsibilities The Defence Commercial and Contracts Manager will be responsible for: Developing and maintaining Contract Management Plans aligned with project objectives and Defence policy Conducting contract performance reviews, identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement Coordinating, reviewing, and assessing supplier deliverables to ensure contractual and technical compliance Preparing, reviewing, and endorsing key commercial documentation, including procurement artefacts, commercial correspondence, contractual notices, and evaluation reports Developing and managing commercial, contract, and procurement strategies and documentation in accordance with Defence policies and ASDEFCON requirements Drafting Noting and Decision Briefs to support governance and approval processes Engaging with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and senior leadership to support successful project outcomes Providing specialist commercial and procurement advice to project teams and decision-makers Supporting Phase-In and Phase-Out activities to ensure smooth contract transitions Delivering training to Defence personnel on procurement methodologies, contracting options, and tender development processes To Be Successful Candidates must demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, Finance, Procurement, or a related discipline Demonstrated experience working with ASDEFCON and Defence procurement processes A minimum of 8 years commercial experience within the Defence sector Strong commercial acumen and the ability to operate effectively within complex organisational environments High-level communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to obtain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance Australian citizenship (candidates must not be former citizens or permanent residents of a prescribed nation) If you would like to have a confidential discussion or find out more about this role, please click apply now or contact me directly on , or J-18808-Ljbffr
