Chef, Full-Time, Permanent Address: 1/2421 Sandgate Rd, Boondall QLD 4034 $80,000 – $90,000 per annum superannuation 38 hours per week (Minimum) About the role We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our dynamic team at Maharani Indian Restaurant in Boondall, QLD 4034 . As our Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating and delivering exceptional Indian cuisine that delights our customers. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking high-quality dishes in a professional kitchen environment, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Planning and organising the preparation and cooking of food in a restaurant, hotel, club, or other dining establishment; Selecting and preparing ingredients, cooking meals, and ensuring all dishes meet required standards of quality, taste, and presentation; Determining portion sizes and preparing food in accordance with menus, special dietary requirements, and customer requests; Monitoring and directing the activities of kitchen staff engaged in preparing, cooking, and presenting food; Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, and other Chefs; Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures; Preparing and cooking food for special dietary requirements including allergies, intolerances, and cultural considerations; Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen and storage areas in compliance with relevant food safety legislation; Monitoring and controlling stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimising food wastage; Assisting in the creation and development of menus in consultation with the Head Chef/Manager; and Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety obligations at all times. What we're looking for Completion of a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Minimum 1 (one) year of demonstrated experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen environment; Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations; Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (current Food Handler/Food Safety Supervisor certification preferred); Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment; Strong organisational and time management skills; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; and Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food consistently.
