French Basket is a well-established restaurant specialising in authentic French cuisine , offering classic and modern French dishes prepared with high-quality ingredients and traditional techniques. We are seeking a skilled and passionate full-time Chef with strong experience in French cooking to join our team. About the role As a key member of the kitchen team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): ·Preparing, cooking, and presenting traditional and contemporary French dishes , including sauces, stocks, pastries, and classic French preparations ·Determining food presentation standards and creating visually appealing French-style dishes ·Planning and organising food production schedules to ensure timely and consistent service ·Estimating food and ingredient requirements and managing food costs in line with budget targets ·Collaborating with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager to develop and refine French menus , taking into account seasonal produce, customer preferences, and authenticity ·Supervising, training, and instructing kitchen staff in French cooking techniques , food preparation, plating, and kitchen procedures ·Monitoring food quality, taste, and presentation to ensure consistency with French culinary standards ·Inspecting kitchen supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards ·Managing stock control, ordering, rotation, and minimising food wastage ·Assisting with staff rostering, shift management, and kitchen operations ·Ensuring full compliance with Food Safety Program requirements, HACCP standards, and OH&S regulations ·Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and professionalism within the kitchen Skills and experience To be successful in this role, you will have: ·A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management ·At least one year of experience as a Chef , preferably with exposure to French cuisine ·Strong knowledge of French cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations ·The ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment ·A genuine passion for French food and attention to detail ·Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently when required ·A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic ·Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team ·Availability to work across a 7-day rotating roster If this role suits you, please email a copy of your resume to:
