Description Global engineering powerhouse seeking a talented Principal Engineer (Electrical) to join their rapidly expanding Renewable Energy team. A well-established consultancy with a fast-growing renewables business Brisbane based role, Sydney, Melbourne & Perth also available. Work on large scale Solar and BESS projects - trips to site when required. They have a history with Renewables, but the Energy Transition business is growing exponentially, and they are expanding their engineering capacity to support their clients. Your new role: Reporting to a Senior Director, supported by global teams you will cover engineering design and design management of large-scale Solar & BESS for initially a GW of projects, from development and design through to commissioning. You will lead technical delivery of projects as well as Grid connection studies while supporting the company in the growth of their Solar & BESS business. You will be a technical authority representing major developers and asset owners throughout the project lifecycle. Your role is to safeguard client interests by ensuring project bankability, safety, and compliance. You will be responsible for design reviews and technical decision making, ensuring clients are at the forefront of industry and innovation. You will also: Work with the APAC Director, for Grid & Renewables and to grow the Solar & BESS business and offerings in the region. Be a subject matter expert on leading solar PV technologies (e.g. panels, racking, inverters, etc.) and emerging technologies, as well as industry trends. Act as a technical project management and/or project engineer for delivery of engagements with clients. Mentor and train junior engineers in solar PV energy modelling and project development and in energy storage and hybrid systems. Lead technology assessment and selection, techno-economic analysis and sizing, technical specifications, and delivery for projects. Contributing to and managing technical scopes of work associated with the specification, design, procurement and construction of energy storage systems. Who you are: As a Principal Engineer you will need at least 15 years’ experience including leadership on utility-scale solar and BESS projects (100MW scale). You have strong demonstrated experience in leading multi-discipline design for large scale solar and BESS projects in Australia or abroad either from a Consultancy and/or an EPC. If you are specialist engineer and/or a subject matter expert in a relevant engineering field, preferably electrical engineering, you are encouraged to apply. You also have: Technical experience in energy production estimates, techno-economic assessment, vendor assessment and engagement for utility scale Solar PV & Energy storage projects. Technical experience in the design of Solar PV generation facilities, including layouts, technology selection, substation design, and interconnection. Experience with PVsyst, PV layout and electrical design of reticulation.
