Description Position Objectives The MFC Community Legal Centre (MFCCLC) provides service delivery to the Northern and Southern Mallee of Victoria and South West New South Wales. The Community Legal Service offers free, confidential legal advice, information, referral, casework, community legal education and engages in law reform activities. The Specialist Family Violence Solicitor works to support victims of family violence by providing information, advice, legal education, casework and court representation for family violence, family law and relevant legal matters. The position may also assist with family violence days through the Intervention Order Support Service program. The solicitor will provide outreach to the Mallee Sexual Assault Unit/Mallee Domestic Violence Service (MSAU/MDVS) and The Orange Door (TOD) sites across the Mallee. Travel to local courts; Mildura, Robinvale, , Swan Hill and Kerang across the MFC CLC catchment may be required along with attendance at MSAU/MDVS and TOD outreach sites. MFCCLC is committed to protecting victims of family violence and to provide a wrap-around support to women and their children. The Specialist Family Violence Solicitor will work closely with the Specialist Family Violence Social Worker to link other non-legal support services required such as (but not limited to) financial counselling, personal counselling around trauma supports, children’s services as well as tenancy needs. This position is based in Mildura, Victoria and extensive travel is required. Position Description Specialist Family Violence Solicitor March 2026 Skills And Experiences Qualifications and Experience: A person employed at this level will be expected to have specific knowledge required to undertake a specialist role within the organisation and experience both in family violence and family law casework. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic legal approach to supporting family violence victims in the Mallee and will be required to work within multiple organisational structures and further stakeholders with support. We are seeking a highly motivated person to assist with the development of the specialist Domestic Violence Unit model who can work with many professional disciplines in a multi-disciplinary team. A current practicing certificate and entry on the High Court register of practitioners, along with demonstrated relevant experience in a legal setting and in court representation. A current drivers licence, a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
