This role is responsible for safely maintaining and repairing fixed plant and utilities assets that are critical to site operations, including water, tailings and associated infrastructure. This is a great opportunity for a skilled mechanical tradesperson with experience in utilities or fixed plant environments who enjoys working as part of a collaborative, safety‑focused team. This role is based in Weipa, Queensland , working a 4 days on / 5 off / 5 days on / 4 off / 5 days on / 5 off roster . Reporting to the Supervisor Water & Tailings and working within a diverse and supportive maintenance team, you will be: Carrying out mechanical maintenance, inspections and repairs on utilities, fixed plant, water and tailings assets Ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with site procedures and standards Diagnosing faults and contributing to effective breakdown response and defect elimination Completing planned maintenance tasks to support asset reliability and availability Accurately completing maintenance documentation and work orders in SAP Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and safe work practices About you A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or a related discipline Experience maintaining utilities, fixed plant, water and/or tailings infrastructure in mining or heavy industry Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability Ability to work effectively in a team‑based operational environment Competency using maintenance systems and computer applications (e.g. SAP) Cert III Mechanical Trade What we offer Permanent employment with Rio Tinto Residential benefits and remote area allowances applicable to Weipa Competitive base salary with annual incentive program Comprehensive health, wellbeing and medical support for you and your family Attractive share ownership plan Career development, leadership pathways and education assistance A work environment where safety is always the number one priority Where you’ll be working Rio Tinto Weipa Operations includes bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, ports, power generation, rail infrastructure and supporting utilities.
