Woodward Foods Australia Pty Ltd is seeking to employ full time Heavy Truck Drivers for multiple positions based in Swan Hill, Victoria. Multiple positions are available across our transport operations, including livestock transport, local delivery, and interstate refrigerated deliveries of boxed meat and hanging carcases. Positions Available Heavy Truck Driver – Livestock Transport Heavy Truck Driver – Local Delivery Heavy Truck Driver – Interstate Boxed Meat and Carcase Deliveries Main Duties and Responsibilities Drive manual heavy vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with road transport laws and company procedures Transport livestock between farms, saleyards, feedlots, holding yards and processing facilities Complete local and regional deliveries of chilled, packed and palletised meat products to depots, wholesalers and customers Complete interstate deliveries of boxed meat and hanging carcases to Melbourne, Mildura, Adelaide, Brisbane and other assigned delivery locations Manoeuvre vehicles into position for loading and unloading Assist with loading and unloading where required using safe work practices and approved equipment Observe safety requirements when loading, unloading and transporting goods or livestock Conduct regular vehicle checks to ensure the truck, trailer and associated equipment can be driven safely Inspect tyres, brakes, lights, refrigeration systems, gates, dividers, restraints, fluid levels and general vehicle condition Estimate and check load weights to comply with load limits and ensure safe weight distribution Ensure goods are properly stowed, secured and covered to prevent loss, spoilage or damage in transit Check hanging carcases, boxed products, pallets and other freight for secure placement and transport suitability Verify dispatch paperwork, loading documents, delivery dockets, manifests and consignment notes before departure Check the condition of goods at loading and delivery points and obtain proof of delivery or delivery certification Maintain cold chain requirements and food safety standards for refrigerated meat transport Monitor livestock condition during transport and comply with animal welfare and biosecurity requirements Maintain accurate logbooks, fatigue records, run sheets, fuel records and proof of delivery documents Report incidents, breakdowns, faults, delays, damage or delivery issues promptly Follow workplace health and safety, fatigue management, chain of responsibility and transport compliance requirements at all times Present professionally and communicate effectively with dispatch staff, site personnel, suppliers and customers Skills and Experience Required At least 1 year of relevant truck driving experience Demonstrated experience driving manual heavy vehicles Experience in heavy vehicle transport, freight delivery, refrigerated freight, livestock transport or meat transport is highly regarded Ability to complete local, regional and interstate delivery runs Sound understanding of load restraint, safe load distribution and delivery documentation Ability to perform routine safety checks and identify maintenance issues Good knowledge of fatigue management and safe driving practices Reliable, punctual and able to work independently Good communication skills and professional work ethic Forklift licence is advantageous but not essential Licence and Mandatory Requirements Current and valid Australian heavy vehicle licence HR licence minimum preferred for local delivery duties HC licence minimum required for livestock and interstate delivery duties MC licence highly regarded Appropriate licence class must be held for the vehicle being operated Manual driving experience is essential (license must not have any condition) Good driving record and ability to meet employer (insurance requirements Working Conditions Early starts, weekend work and overtime may be required Interstate and overnight trips may be required for some runs Work involves regional and interstate travel, including deliveries to Melbourne, Mildura, Adelaide and Brisbane Drivers must be physically capable of load checks, securing freight, opening gates, coupling trailers and assisting with unloading where required Work may be performed in outdoor conditions, loading yards, depots, cold storage and processing environments About the Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a safety focused and dependable heavy vehicle driver who can manage transport duties across livestock, local and interstate delivery operations.
