About the Role In this role, you will provide executive and advocacy support to the Tasmanian Chair and Committee while also coordinating College events, professional development activities, and examinations for Fellows, Trainees, and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs). You will: Support the Tasmanian Chair and Committee in advocacy on surgical matters. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Tasmanian Health Minister and Department of Health. Provide secretariat support to the State Committee, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed. Organise and coordinate College events, professional development activities, Journal Clubs, rural visits, and the Annual Scientific Meeting. Assist with examinations logistics, including the written and clinical exams. Coordinate career and pre-vocational events with universities and surgical interest groups. Deliver high-quality customer service to Fellows, Trainees, and SIMGs, resolving enquiries or referring appropriately. Support administrative and operational activities of the Tasmanian office as part of a small, collaborative team. About the Team You will work with a supportive and collaborative team across the RACS Tasmanian State Office, Victoria/Tasmania State Manager, and national College staff. The team is focused on meaningful engagement with Fellows, Trainees, and SIMGs, and delivering high-quality events and professional development opportunities that advance surgical practice in Tasmania. About You You bring: Experience in event coordination and engagement within government, member-based, or not-for-profit organisations. Proven skills in supporting committees, including drafting agendas and taking minutes. Experience advocating within membership organisations on health or surgical matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills, research, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills with attention to detail. Ability to build positive relationships with people at all levels and work independently. You are: Flexible, adaptive, and able to respond to the dynamic needs of the role. Collaborative, team-oriented, and open to feedback. Willing to occasionally work after hours to support events and College activities.
