About the Position: The Chef will play a central role in our kitchen, leading the preparation and execution of both modern Australian bistro dishes and authentic Indian cuisine to uphold our reputation for fresh, high-quality meals and exceptional hospitality. This full-time position involves collaborating closely with the team to ensure smooth service across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, contributing to menu innovation while maintaining consistency in flavours and presentation. As a key member of our small, dynamic operation, the Chef will help drive customer satisfaction in a fast-paced yet supportive environment where passion for food and genuine care for guests are essential. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and cook a diverse range of dishes, including Australian café favourites (e.g., all-day breakfasts, gourmet sandwiches, salads) and authentic Indian specialties (e.g., curries, tandoori items, naan, street-food classics). Ensure all food is prepared to high standards using fresh, quality ingredients while adhering to food safety, hygiene, and portion control guidelines. Manage kitchen operations during service, including stock control, mise en place, and efficient workflow to meet service demands. Collaborate with the team to innovate and refine menu items, incorporating customer feedback and seasonal availability. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in line with health regulations. Assist in training junior staff and contribute to a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture. Requirements : Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Minimum qualification: Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (or equivalent recognised qualification). At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment. Strong technical skills in preparing both Western bistro-style and Indian cuisine dishes, including spice balancing, tandoori cooking techniques, and consistent plating/presentation. Excellent time management and organisational abilities to handle high-volume service periods effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a small team and interact positively with front-of-house staff.
