With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Aboriginal Liaison Officer to join the Narrun Wilip-giin team.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (ALO) plays a key role in ensuring the health service delivers culturally safe and appropriate care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families, and communities.  The ALO provides cultural, social, and emotional support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families to facilitate access to and engagement with healthcare services. The role also contributes to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organisationâs Aboriginal Cultural Safety Plan  In accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), this position is designated for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only.  This position is fixed term full time until April 2027  To be successful in this role you will have: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures, values, and community perspectives, including social, emotional, and health issues impacting Aboriginal people. Strong understanding of relevant government frameworks, strategies, and policies relating to Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
