Design and deliver scalable data solutions within an Azure cloud environment Collaborate with architects and analysts to deliver scalable data solutions Drive technology uplift to allow the business to scale and grow Based in Sydney CBD 6 Month contract rolling Hybrid working – 3 days in office About the Role: We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the team and play a key role in shaping the data ecosystem that supports critical business functions. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern data technologies, deliver high-quality solutions and contribute to a data platform that underpins analytics, reporting and decision-making across the enterprise. You’ll work closely with the Data Platform Lead, architects and analysts to design, develop and optimise data pipelines, ensuring the platform is secure, scalable and high-performing. What’s a Typical Day Look Like? Build and optimise data pipelines to support analytics, reporting and operational workflows Develop data models and transformation logic to ensure clean, structured and accessible data Work within an Azure cloud environment , leveraging Databricks for data warehousing, SQL for data extraction and transformation and Python for building and automating pipelines Implement Airflow as the orchestration tool to schedule, monitor, and manage workflows Collaborate with architects, data analysts and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions aligned with business needs Drive best practices around data quality, testing and documentation Support platform performance, reliability and cost optimisation initiatives Explore new tools and techniques to enhance platform capabilities and automation About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles Proficiency in Databricks , Azure Synapse , SQL and Python Hands-on experience implementing Airflow or similar orchestration tools Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data architecture patterns Experience working in a cloud environment (preferably Azure) Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and communicate effectively Familiarity with data governance, security and performance optimisation practices Exposure to financial services environments is a plus but not essential Curious, driven and innovative - constantly seeking ways to improve and modernise infrastructure Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident If you're a Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Investment Management, Azure, Databricks and data infrastructure, we want to hear from you!
