About the Role Reporting to the Coordinator Audit and Risk and part of a team of five (including the Coordinator), the Risk Adviser will play an integral role in the Risk team and will be responsible for the administration and provision of support to Council’s risk management programme, including participation in Council’s identification, assessment and mitigation of risks. The Risk Adviser will: In conjunction with the Audit and Compliance Officer, provide support in the management of Council’s Audit and Risk Committee and Internal Audit programme Identify and report on changes to the external statutory, commercial and regulatory environment that are significant to Council Drive continuous improvement in the delivery of risk management, business continuity management and fraud prevention activities for management and staff Ensure best practice Deliver the annual renewal of Council’s insurances through liaison with key stakeholders across Council, insurance brokers and insurers Liaise regularly and extensively with Council’s insurers and insurance brokers Provide guidance and support to the Insurance and Claims Analyst in claims management including active participation in legal proceedings managed by lawyers appointed on behalf of Council either directly or by Council’s insurers Skills & Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications such as accounting, business or commerce highly regarded Experience in risk management, insurance claims management, business continuity management and/or compliance Culture As a progressive leader in Local Government, Darebin City Council is passionate about social inclusion, sustainability, engagement and service excellence.
