About the role McConnell Dowell is working on the second stage of the Swanson Dock West Remediation Project at Port of Melbourne, through to late 2027. As a HSE Manager, you will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the project’s safety management program, ensuring alignment with the McConnell Dowell Management System and Project Execution Plan. You will play a pivotal role in promoting a strong, positive safety culture across a complex marine construction environment involving heavy civil works, structural remediation, and high-risk construction activities. Key Responsibilities: Lead implementation of the project WHS Management Plan. Provide expert HSE advice to the Project Manager and leadership team. Lead incident investigations and corrective action processes. Conduct site inspections, audits, and high-risk activity reviews. Drive workforce engagement, training, and safety leadership initiatives. About you You are a proactive and experienced HSE professional with a strong track record on major infrastructure construction projects. You are confident working in high-risk environments and are passionate about building a positive, accountable safety culture. You bring strong communication skills and the ability to influence leaders, subcontractors, and frontline teams alike. You will also have: Cert IV in WHS or Diploma in Work Health & Safety. Experience on large-scale infrastructure construction projects. Marine or port infrastructure experience (highly regarded). Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and compliance.
