About the Role As an ICT Support Officer - Level 1 , you will be the first point of contact for IT support, assisting staff with everyday technology issues and learning how enterprise IT really works. You will be based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre , Victoria’s largest correctional facility, supporting a modern IT environment while gaining exposure to real‑world systems, processes, and security standards. You will gain exposure to enterprise IT operations , cyber security awareness and IT service management best practices, including: Responding to IT help desk tickets and user requests Troubleshooting basic hardware, software and login issues Supporting Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 environments Assisting with workstation setup, software installs, and password resets Escalating more complex issues to senior IT staff and vendors Learning and following ICT security and compliance procedures Building your technical skills with mentoring and guidance. About You (Graduates Encouraged!) We’re looking for enthusiastic IT graduates or near‑graduates who are keen to learn and start their professional journey. Essential: Foundational knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 applications, with the ability to support everyday end‑user issues. Completion of, or current enrolment in, a relevant Information Technology qualification (Certificate IV or higher), or equivalent practical knowledge. Demonstrated ability to provide first‑level ICT support, including responding to help desk requests, troubleshooting common issues, and escalating incidents when required. Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non‑technical users. Ability to prioritise tasks, follow documented procedures, and maintain accurate records in a service management system. Basic understanding of ICT security principles, including user access, password management, and recognising potential cyber security risks. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a structured team environment. Willingness and capability to work within a correctional setting, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to organisational policies. Desirable Previous experience or exposure to a help desk or service desk environment (including study placements or part‑time roles). Familiarity with Active Directory at a basic level (e.g. user account look-ups and password resets). Introductory understanding of networking concepts, such as connectivity issues, VPNs, or basic troubleshooting. Experience assisting with workstation setup, software deployment, or asset management activities. Interest in developing skills in networking, cyber security, or automation/scripting as part of a career pathway in ICT. Experience working in, or exposure to, highly regulated or compliance‑focused environments. Other Requirements of the Role Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners. Valid and current full Australian driver’s license. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Availability for to provide rostered after hours support.
