Sourceman International is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Production / Plant Engineer to join its manufacturing operations in Norwest, NSW. This full-time position plays a critical role in optimising production systems, improving operational efficiency, and supporting high-quality electronics manufacturing outcomes. Employment Type : Full-time (38 hours) Key Responsibilities: As a Plant or Production Engineer, your duties will include (but are not limited to): •Designing, configuring, and optimising production systems, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes across SMT, through-hole, and test operations, including strong hands-on setup and technical validation of equipment and process parameters • Analysing production workflows, yield data, and operational performance to identify inefficiencies and implementing engineering improvements directly on the production floor • Direct involvement in PCB assembly, soldering, fine-pitch rework, inspection, and functional testing where engineering validation and quality control is required • Developing and implementing process control measures to improve quality, throughput, and equipment utilisation, including physical trials and in-process adjustments • Supporting new product introduction (NPI), prototype builds, and first-article validation through direct involvement in build, testing, and process verification activities • Conducting detailed root-cause analysis on production defects, equipment faults, and test failures, including hands-on diagnostics, troubleshooting, and corrective implementation • Participating directly in equipment setup, process validation, complex rework activities, testing, and build/debug of electronic assemblies where engineering expertise is required • Assisting in preventative maintenance planning and undertaking technical assessment and calibration verification of production equipment ·Providing technical training, guidance, and performance support to operators and technicians on equipment operation, soldering, rework, inspection, and testing procedures to maintain consistent workmanship and compliance with industry standards. ·Evaluating factory layout, equipment placement, material flow, and production schedules to optimise throughput, minimise downtime, and ensure effective integration of personnel, machinery, and manufacturing processes. ·Establishing and maintaining engineering, quality, and safety standards for installation, modification, inspection, testing, and maintenance, while leading root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to resolve process, yield, and equipment issues. The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: ·Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline ·Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in an electronics or EMS manufacturing environment ·Strong practical exposure to SMT and through-hole PCB assembly processes ·Strong problem-solving and analytical skills within a manufacturing or industrial environment. ·Sound understanding of production systems, quality standards, and continuous improvement practices. ·Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and operational documentation. ·High attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. ·Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. ·Capability to provide technical guidance and support to production staff.
