We are currently assisting a QLD Government organisation in the recruitment of an experienced Principal Data Architect. The Principal Data Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of the department’s central data capability – a strategic function that unifies data architecture, governance, engineering and business intelligence analysis into a coordinated service model. This is a pivotal role responsible for providing strategic leadership in shaping the department’s enterprise data architecture, enabling high quality analytics and ensuring that data is managed as a strategic asset across the department. What do you need to apply for this role? Ability to lead enterprise data architecture and influence adoption of standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Technical expertise in Azure, SQL, ETL, Power BI, Dynamics 365, and ArcGIS. Understanding of data governance, quality, and compliance. What you will be doing: Develop and maintain the department’s target-state enterprise data architecture, ensuring alignment with the departments ICT strategy and Queensland Government ICT frameworks. Engage stakeholders to understand data needs and current practices and map business capabilities and data flows to inform architecture design. Define data models, standards, and principles to guide scalable and integrated data solutions (e.g., Dynamics 365, ArcGIS). Establish a core data platform using Microsoft Azure and enterprise BI tools to support consistent analytics delivery. Implement robust governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
