SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Welder (First Class) on behalf of our client who runs a trusted and established fabrication business, based in Coolaroo, Victoria. Our client specialises in designing and manufacturing high-quality custom trailers and transport equipment. They produce a wide range of heavy-duty trailers – including transport, car carrier, agricultural, tag and semi-trailers – built for durability, safety to meet industry requirements. Position – Welder (First Class) Location – Coolaroo, Victoria Salary - $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE: This is an opportunity for an experienced Welder to work on a range of structural and custom fabrication projects in a professional environment. The role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail and commitment to safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: · Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications to determine job requirements. · Prepare, cut and shape metal components using hand tools, flame-cutting equipment and fabrication machinery. · Align, position and secure metal components prior to welding. · Perform MIG, ARC and other welding techniques across mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum. · Inspect completed welds for accuracy, penetration and structural integrity. · Perform finishing processes including grinding, polishing and smoothing welded surfaces. · Operate and maintain welding equipment and workshop tools in line with OHS standards. · Contribute to a safe, efficient, and productive workshop environment through adherence to workplace procedures and chain of responsibility standards. · Adhere to the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). · Work collaboratively with tradespeople and workshop staff to meet project deadlines. · Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: · Certificate IV (or agreed equivalent) in Engineering – Fabrication Trade. · Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) post qualification experience in a similar role. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Demonstrated experience in MIG and ARC welding across multiple materials. · Ability to read and work accurately from technical drawings. · Reliable, punctual, and a commitment to quality workmanship. · Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship. · You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
