Assistant Accountant – 10-Month Contract (Parental Leave Cover) It’s an exciting time at Shred-X Secure Destruction and Med-X Healthcare Solutions! Due to significant growth through acquisitions and new business, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team on a 10-month parental leave contract. Our affiliated companies are industry leaders in confidential secure destruction, complete clinical waste management, sharps disposal, hygiene, and washroom solutions. With a nationwide operational footprint, our group operates under a quality management system accredited to NAID AAA Certification and ISO 9001 / ISO 27001 standards. Following the recent implementation of new financial systems, we are now on an exciting journey toward advanced automation and process improvement. About the Role Reporting to the Finance Team, you will take ownership of monthly reconciliations, credit card and expense processing, and provide support across stocktakes, reporting, journals, and fixed asset accounting. You will also manage finance-related queries and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. This is a 10-month contract role, offering the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing organisation. What you’ll do • Analyse and process credit card transactions and expense claims in a timely manner • Process accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and petty cash journals • Investigate and resolve issues related to invoices, credit cards, and expense claims • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations • Assist with stock count reconciliations and journal entries • Gather monthly fuel consumption data for Greenhouse Gas emissions reporting • Prepare BAS and IAS returns for review • Maintain and audit the fixed asset register • Support the Financial Reporting and Accounts Payable teams as required What we’re looking for You are a motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong working relationships. • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Assistant Accountant in a similar fast-paced environment • Hands-on experience in management accounting • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formatting, etc.) • Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O, SAP or similar preferred) • Strong reconciliation experience • High level of accuracy and attention to detail • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills • Strong time management and organisational skills • Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate within a team • Data entry skills with strong numerical aptitude • Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office Why Join Us? • Be part of a growing, industry-leading organisation • Work within a supportive and collaborative finance team • Contribute to system enhancements and automation initiatives • Gain exposure across multiple business units nationwide We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
