An Northern TAS Youth Detention Centre requires a Registered Nurse (RN) from 10/02/2026 to 03/05/2026. Brief Role Description - As part of a multi-disciplinary team and in accordance with Agency policies and professional standards, responsible for delivering high quality correctional mental health services and in accordance with the Mental health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the agency nurse will: - In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care. - Practice in accordance with the NMBA[1] codes and guidelines for registered nurses/midwives. - Involve patients/clients and their families/significant others in the planning and implementation of care. - Maintain and promote a safe work environment. - Understand and adhere to relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines. - Maintain accurate objective, succinct and timely documentation. - As directed or required by the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) may take charge of a shift. - Interact effectively and appropriately with patients’/clients’ families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care. - Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a strong team approach through open communication and a positive supportive approach. - Actively contribute to the communication process, including attending and participating in team meetings. - Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training. -The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level. Work pattern/shifts/Hours of work Fully rotational shift work: 72 hours per fortnight (12 x 12 hour shifts per month).
