The Opportunity This is a genuinely impactful role where you'll make a real difference during some of the most difficult times in people's lives. You'll have complete end-to-end ownership of a portfolio of terminal illness and death insurance claims, working autonomously while being supported by an experienced team. Your responsibilities will include: Managing complex claims with autonomy – Full accountability for your portfolio from initial contact through to resolution Preparing critical documentation – Claims Summaries and Death Recommendations for submission to committee Making sound recommendations – Applying your expertise in line with the SIS Act and Trust Deed requirements Liaising with diverse stakeholders – Including members' families, solicitors, financial advisors, and external insurers Facilitating underwriting processes – Supporting optional insurance applications and requests through to completion About You We're looking for an experienced claims professional who thrives on autonomy and brings both technical expertise and genuine empathy to their work. You'll be comfortable working in a transformational environment where processes are evolving and your input on improvements is valued. Essential experience and skills: Proven track record in death and terminal illness claims case management Strong knowledge of superannuation claims processes, ideally within both defined benefit and accumulation funds Ability to interpret Trust Deeds, insurance policies and the SIS Act to make sound recommendations Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high degree of empathy – you understand that behind every claim is a person or family going through a difficult time Strong organisational capability to manage competing priorities across your portfolio Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities RG146 compliant (or ability to obtain) What makes this role different: True ownership – This isn't a transactional processing role; you'll own cases from start to finish Meaningful work – Your expertise directly supports members and their families during challenging circumstances Transformation involvement – Be part of shaping improved processes and practices Professional challenge – Complex cases that require analysis, judgment, and relationship management Why Join Us UniSuper is proud of our culture and benefits, which empower our people to achieve their full potential, thrive, and grow their career with us.
