The team operates across two offices, offering flexible work arrangements including up to two days working from home. The Opportunity The team is growing in size and capability and takes a structured yet flexible approach to solving problems. You’ll be working with large and complex datasets to support programs, detect anomalies, and provide insights that inform evidence-based decisions. There is also exposure to advanced analytics initiatives, including machine-learning models, providing clear opportunities for technical growth. Due to the growth of this team, there are multiple vacancies with the flexibility to join initially as a long term non-ongoing employee with view to permanency or via s26 transfer. The Role As an APS6 Data Analyst, you will: Clean, transform, and analyse large-scale datasets to detect trends, anomalies, or patterns Build logic-based rules and automated workflows (e.g., combining multiple datasets or identifying exceptions) to feed into dashboards and reporting Develop visualisations and reports that clearly communicate findings, exceptions, and patterns to stakeholders Collaborate with teams across the organisation to investigate anomalies and recommend improvements Partner with data science teams on model design and requirements, with potential to support, refine, or apply models to future analytics projects The Ideal Person You are an experienced data analyst (accounting professional or management consultant pivoting into analytics) who enjoys transforming large, complex datasets into actionable insights. You understand how data can strengthen processes, controls, and decision-making frameworks. Key attributes include: Proven experience analysing large datasets to identify trends, weaknesses, or non-compliance Ability to clean, manipulate, and interpret data using R, Python, SQL or similar, with intermediate or above Power BI skills Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a structured approach to problem-solving Curious, sound independent judgement, and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication skill Due to the nature of the organisation Australian Citizenship and a minimum Baseline security clearance is mandatory.
