Play a key role in shaping the future of Australia's health classifications. In this role, you'll turn complex clinical coding standards into clear, practical educational content used by health professionals nationwide. You'll lead the development of training materials for upcoming editions of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS (Australia's national clinical coding standards) and help introduce the sector to ICD-11, the World Health Organization's modernised global classification system. This includes coordinating National Coding Advice, supporting the ongoing improvement of Australia's coding standards, and ensuring the evolution of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS aligns seamlessly with our longer-term transition to ICD-11. You'll also contribute to specific ICD-11 implementation projects, provide expert support to other IHACPA teams, and offer clear, practical guidance on how ICD-11 may be used in future classification work. Additional duties will be undertaken as directed by the Director, Acute Care Classifications. The key duties of the position include Applies a strong understanding of IHACPA's role, hospital operations and activity based funding to inform classification decisions. Demonstrates practical insight into ICD 11 and clearly communicates its purpose, strengths and benefits. Uses deep operational knowledge of ICD 10 AM/ACHI/ACS and its links to AR DRGs to ensure accurate and consistent classification. Plans, manages and delivers work programs and projects on time, tracking progress and evaluating outcomes. Leads and motivates others by communicating clear goals, priorities and expectations. Thinks strategically to assess impacts, risks, governance requirements and organisational needs. Builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication, negotiation and the ability to explain complex issues simply. Draws on relevant qualifications and experience in health information management, classification development, education or health information leadership.
