Title: Insolvency & Commercial Disputes – Senior Associate or Special Counsel Location: Melbourne The Role: Our client, a leading national Australian law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its highly regarded Insolvency & Commercial Disputes team in Melbourne. This is a newly created position within a fast-growing and strategically important practice. You will manage complex commercial disputes involving multiple stakeholders, technical legal issues and commercial sensitivities. This opportunity is well suited to a senior disputes lawyer seeking genuine leadership responsibility, high-quality matters and a clear pathway toward partnership. Responsibilities: You will be responsible for: Managing a diverse portfolio of complex commercial disputes and insolvency matters; Developing and executing sophisticated case strategies; Working closely with Partners, Counsel and a sophisticated client base; Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers; Contributing to business development initiatives and client growth strategies; and Supporting the continued expansion of the practice. Experience in class actions, complex commercial litigation and arbitrations will be highly regarded. Requirements: The ideal candidate will have: 7 years’ post-admission experience in insolvency and/or commercial disputes from a respected mid-tier or top-tier firm Strong technical ability and sound commercial judgement Demonstrated mentoring and supervision experience Excellent communication and client relationship management skills A proactive mindset with genuine interest in business development Clear partnership aspirations This is a rare opportunity to join a nationally recognised disputes practice at a senior level, within a firm that genuinely supports progression and long-term career development.
