About the Role We are looking for a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our specialist workshop team. Unlike site-based rail work, this role is 100% workshop-based , providing a controlled environment and consistent hours with possibility for OT! You will be responsible for fabricating high-quality steel components for the rail industry, including structural frames, gantries, bogie components, and specialized track infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Interpret technical drawings and blueprints for rail-specific projects. Heavy-gauge fabrication using MIG and Stick welding (FCAW/MMAW). Marking out, cutting, grinding, and assembling steel components. Ensuring all work meets strict rail safety and quality standards (AS/NZS). Operating workshop machinery (overhead cranes, saws, presses, and rollers). What We’re Looking For Trade Qualified: Cert III in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent. Industry Experience: Previous experience in heavy fabrication; rail or rolling stock experience is a massive plus. Precision: Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
