Your Employer Our client is a third-generation, family-owned cattle feeding and backgrounding operation located near Wattle Camp in Queensland’s South Burnett region. Established in the late 1980s, the business has grown steadily with capacity beyond 6,400 SCU. The operation delivers custom feeding programs across 100-day, short-fed trade, Angus and emerging Wagyu programs, underpinned by strong relationships within regional beef supply chains. With current expansions and continued infrastructure investment—including pen refurbishments, grain handling upgrades, and further yard and shading improvements—the business is focused on sustainable growth, animal welfare and operational efficiency. The Role As the Feedlot Manager, you will provide end-to-end operational leadership across livestock, feed mill and maintenance functions. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the key on-site leader, strengthening team capability, driving compliance and delivering consistent performance outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Leading daily feedlot operations across livestock, feed and maintenance Overseeing livestock receival, induction, dispatch and animal health support Managing feed delivery accuracy, commodity handling and inventory control Driving WHS, QA (including NFAS), and environmental compliance Developing and mentoring team members through training and performance reviews Contributing to budgeting, operational planning, and continuous improvement objectives About You You are an experienced feedlot professional ready to take ownership of a growing operation. You lead from the front, communicate clearly, and bring structure to team performance and compliance. To be successful, you will demonstrate: 3–4 years’ experience in feedlot operations Proven people leadership, including coaching and performance management Strong operational knowledge across livestock, feed systems and maintenance Safety-first mindset with QA and environmental compliance experience A practical, respectful and adaptable leadership style Desirable experience includes commodity procurement, budget oversight, NFAS accreditation, and HR/MC licensing.
