The Opportunity CPP is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager in a newly created role that will set the strategic direction for environmental sustainability and performance nationally. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Health, Safety and Environment, this is a greenfield opportunity to establish the environmental sustainability function from the ground up whilst leading a team of Environmental Advisors. You will be responsible for building the organisation’s environmental sustainability capability, including establishing a clear baseline for environmental and carbon performance, implementing fit-for-purpose systems and processes, and supporting the business to meet increasingly complex client expectations. From an environmental perspective, the role will strengthen how environmental management is delivered across CPP’s projects, embedding practical and robust environmental practices across the business. Working with various stakeholders across all levels of the business, you will lead the Environmental Advisory team and engage closely with site teams, senior leaders and clients. Success will be driven through influence and trusted relationships, not authority. This role provides a unique opportunity to define and embed strategy while maintaining strong operational connection. Skills And Experiences About You To be successful in this role, you will possess: Tertiary qualifications in either Environmental Science, Sustainability or related field. 8 years experience in heavy industrial environments (e.g. transmission, power, pipelines, mining or similar), with the ability to adapt environmental controls across diverse sites and conditions Extensive knowledge of sustainability and environmental requirements, including development approvals, client specifications, and practical on‑site application Leadership abilities and qualities, with the capability to lead, mentor and develop a team successfully, while operating confidently at both a strategic and operational level Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to build strong, trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation and effectively influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes Experience in developing and delivering strategy Highly detail-focused, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables.
