About the Role This Risk Manager role sits within the second line of defence and plays a key part in strengthening and continuously improving the organisation’s Risk Management Framework (RMF). Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, the role provides independent oversight, constructive challenge and assurance across enterprise risk, regulatory compliance (including AML/CTF), control effectiveness and governance processes. You will work closely with business stakeholders to uplift risk maturity, embed strong risk practices into day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, and support high-quality reporting to Executive and Board Committees. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Risk Oversight (Second Line) Support the oversight and continuous improvement of the Risk Management Framework. Provide independent review and constructive challenge of risk assessments, controls, incidents and treatment plans. Monitor alignment to the Risk Appetite Statement and escalate emerging or material risks. Track remediation actions to ensure timely and effective resolution. Risk Embedding, Training & Capability Uplift Promote a positive, risk-aware culture across the organisation. Support embedding of risk management into business-as-usual activities and projects. Design and deliver risk training and workshops to strengthen first-line ownership. Provide practical guidance to stakeholders on risk processes and governance requirements. Risk Champion Program Coordinate and support the Risk Champion network. Provide tools, training and structured development to enable consistent risk practices. Act as an advisory and escalation point for first-line risk queries. Regulatory Oversight Maintain strong knowledge of relevant regulatory obligations. Provide second-line oversight of key compliance areas, including AML/CTF frameworks and controls. Support regulatory reviews, thematic assessments and information requests. Monitor regulatory developments and ensure alignment with internal frameworks and policies. Risk Management Systems & Reporting Oversee the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Risk Management System. Maintain quality and integrity of risk data. Deliver dashboards and reporting that provide meaningful insights to support decision-making. Prepare high-quality risk reporting for Executive and Board Committees, including thematic deep dives and emerging risk analysis. Control Testing & Assurance Develop and execute risk-based control testing programs. Assess control design and operating effectiveness. Provide independent assurance and practical, risk-based recommendations. Monitor issue remediation and closure. Policy & Framework Development Draft and maintain risk management frameworks, policies and procedures. Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and better practice standards. Support governance and policy approval processes. Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have strong Risk management experience in a regulated environement.This could suit someone who is looking to step up from an Risk analyst role someone pivoting from another Risk manager role within the sector Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Risk Management or a related discipline. Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience in risk management within a regulated environment. Experience supporting and enhancing enterprise risk frameworks and systems. Experience administering and optimising risk management systems (e.g. maintaining registers, ensuring data integrity and producing reporting outputs). Strong understanding of regulatory compliance obligations, including AML/CTF requirements. Demonstrated experience in second-line oversight and constructive challenge. Experience conducting control testing and assurance activities. Technical & Professional Capabilities Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex risk information and identify control gaps. Ability to provide practical, risk-based recommendations to stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including Board-level reporting.
