About the role We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Advisor to support health, safety and environmental performance across a Alumina Smelter plant environment. This role is critical in promoting a strong safety culture, coaching field teams, and ensuring compliance with legislative, client and UGL safety management systems. Working closely with operations, maintenance, project teams and contractors, you will provide frontline HSE advice, conduct verifications in the field, lead incident investigations and help drive continuous improvement across site activities. Conduct field-based verifications, inspections, audits and safety interactions. Deliver incident notifications, investigations (ICAM preferred) and corrective action management. Review and validate SWMS, permits, JHAs and work packs for high‑risk activities. Provide advice on hazard identification, risk assessment and environmental controls. Support the execution of shutdowns, projects and maintenance works from an HSE perspective. Maintain accurate HSE reporting, records and trend analysis to drive performance improvement. Promote a strong safety culture aligned with UGL and client values. About you Experience in HSE roles within mining, minerals processing, resources or heavy industry environments (bauxite or alumina highly regarded). Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and safe systems of work. Demonstrated experience conducting field verifications, investigations and HSE leadership activities. ICAM training/experience highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence behaviours on site. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a live operational environment. Relevant HSE qualifications (Cert IV, Diploma or degree in WHS/OHS or related discipline).
