Description DIRECTORATE: Business, Growth & Community CLASSIFICATION: Grade B SALARY: $42.19 per hour 12% employer contribution to superannuation (includes 25% loading in lieu of all leave entitlements) REPORTING TO: MAMA Visitor Experience Coordinator EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Casual THE POSITION: Provide flexible staffing support to ensure effective service delivery across a 7-day service, including weekends and public holidays. Under the direction of the MAMA Visitor Experience Coordinator, Visitor Experience Assistants deliver high-quality visitor engagement and customer service across all museum spaces. The role is primarily visitor-facing and includes supporting retail operations, facilitating positive visitor experiences, and assisting with the delivery of MAMA’s Studio, public programs, and broader engagement activities. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Create a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment for all visitors. Deliver high-quality visitor engagement and accurate museum information services. Assist with retail and ticketing systems, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. Support the daily operations of the MAMA Store and front-of-house services. Support weekend operations and program delivery as required, in line with the museum’s objectives. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of exhibitions, programs, and organisational priorities to provide informed visitor communication. Ensure compliance with safety, security, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements. Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor, within the scope of the employee’s skills, competence, and training. Qualifications KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Internal MAMA Staff and Volunteers Our People (AlburyCity staff and relevant business units) External Visitors and the broader community Suppliers and contractors MAMA clients and venue hire partners EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Based on 35 hours per week, working on a casual basis, across a 7-day spread, with actual days and times being worked in accordance with facility roster. Hours worked on weekends will attract the appropriate loadings. This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. This position involves working both indoor and outdoor. In addition to computer work, a moderate amount of physical activity may also be required, depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position. This position requires a current NSW Working with Children’s Check This position requires evidence of a current Australian National Police Check. This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing. The position is located at the Murray Art Museum Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Completion of Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent Relevant qualification or demonstrated interest in Hospitality, Tourism, Arts, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or willingness to obtain DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Class C (standard) Driver's Licence, Provisional Licence or Learner Licence Experience working in Arts, Museum, Tourism or Hospitality sectors SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Sound understanding of customer service principles and practices. General knowledge of, or interest in, the visual arts. Ability to collect, record, and maintain accurate data and information. Knowledge of local tourism products and services, or the willingness and ability to develop this knowledge. Competence in using the Microsoft Office Suite and web-based Point-of-Sale and Ticketing systems. Experience in cash handling and point-of-sale operations
