We are seeking a junior to mid-level solicitor (up to 3 years’ PQE) to join our leading front-end insurance team as part of our M&A practice. This role is ideal for someone who has a keen interest in insurance law and regulation, particularly within the context of the Australian financial services regime. Familiarity with these areas is highly desirable. About the Job As a member of our team, you will work on a diverse range of matters, including: Advising on insurance aspects of M&A transactions Handling cyber claims Providing regulatory advice related to insurance Negotiating policy wordings and other relevant matters that frequently make headlines Please note that this position does not have a litigation focus. About the Team You will collaborate closely with Mandy Tsang , a highly regarded specialist in insurance law who represents both local and international clients, including large and listed insurance companies and other financial services providers. Mandy's extensive expertise across various practice areas positions her as the go to adviser for her clients on insurance related issues. Mandy’s practice encompasses: Advising on insurance regulatory regimes and financial services regulation for both established insurers and new market entrants, such as reinsurers, distributors, and offshore insurers Negotiating corporate and transactional policy wordings and reinsurance contracts Managing the insurance aspects of large M&A transactions Negotiating insurance distribution arrangements with household retailers, energy companies, and banks Addressing insurance products, coverage issues, and disputes, particularly concerning directors’ and officers’ (D&O) liability, professional indemnity, and cyber insurance We Are Looking for Candidates With: Preferably, but not necessarily, insurance experience gained in private practice or within the legal team of an insurance company (or similar) A strong interest in insurance law Proven experience in drafting advice, as well as drafting, reviewing, or analysing contracts Exceptional attention to detail Strong analytical, drafting, and research skills to contribute to the delivery of commercially astute advice A commitment to client service, with the ability to effectively develop and manage internal and external relationships (clients and third parties) Enthusiasm for engaging in business development activities, participating in industry-related programs, and developing strategic relationships and networks If you are passionate about insurance law and eager to advance your career in a dynamic and supportive environment, we encourage you to apply.
