Job Summary Exciting opportunity to join the ConocoPhillips Australia Team as M&R Specialist – Instrument & Controls. Position Overview ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers. About the Role As a member of the ConocoPhillips (COP) Australia Pacific LNG Downstream (DS) Maintenance & Reliability team, this position contributes to developing a learning organisation committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement, zero injuries or incidents, and full compliance with our standards and processes. Reporting to the M&R Supervisor – Reliability, the M&R Specialist – Instrument & Control provides advanced expertise and support across instrumentation and control systems. The role delivers maintenance strategy development, troubleshooting, problem analysis, and supports Defect Elimination (DE) investigations. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support Production Operations and Maintenance teams with troubleshooting of Instrument and Control equipment. Provide technical clarifications and support risk ranking of maintenance notifications. Coach and mentor Maintenance and Production Operations teams on Instrument and Control aspects of their work. Review SIS & SCE critical function test results and develop action plans as required. Participate actively in Maintenance Change Request (for ongoing M&R program refinement) and Maintenance Deferment Process (to improve maintenance execution compliance). Audit Maintenance and Preservation of Instrumentation and Controls equipment and spare parts. Monitoring and maintaining costs associated with the Instrumentation and Controls M&R Program as part of the overall APLNG M&R budget. Review and Risk Assess PM deferrals related to Instrumentation and Controls equipment. Ownership of Instrumentation and Controls equipment related HAZID/IRMS items, Vulnerabilities and Unease. Support Defect Elimination process and facilitate Root Cause Analysis for Instrumentation and Controls systems and equipment. Contribute to the Management of Change process. Provide input into the scoping of maintenance work for instrumentation and controls equipment. Supervising short‑term contract personnel working onsite. You will bring to the role Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values. Minimum 10 years of industrial instrumentation and control equipment experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical or heavy industry. Electrical Trade Qualification with Queensland Electrical Mechanic License. Comprehensive experience in the maintenance and fault finding of instrumentation equipment including: Control valves and pneumatic actuators Pressure, flow, and temperature monitoring instrumentation Condition monitoring instrumentation (vibration) Fire and gas safety systems A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of plant control systems such as PLC, DCS and SIS. Formal competencies in Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Area (EEHA) - installation and maintenance, with minimum of 5 years of practical experience. SAP experience or similar computer-based maintenance system. Knowledge of the Queensland Electrical Safety Act, associated Regulations and Codes of Practice. Electrical permit to work (PTW) systems, administration, and authority.
