Description The Role The purpose of the Regional Suicide Prevention Lead role is to provide leadership, coordination and oversight of early intervention and suicide prevention, activities across the Adelaide region. The role is responsible for strengthening whole-of-community, whole-of-system approaches to suicide prevention through planning, commissioning, partnership development and systems-based reform: The role will be responsible for: Contributing subject matter expertise and leadership related to defined lead program area. Participating in strategic and operational planning including implementation, execution, monitoring and review of strategic and operational plans as well as performance indicators and deliverables to the Commonwealth. Providing line management supervision, leadership and operational support to MHAOD CCBCs, including following Adelaide PHN’s employee performance and development policies and procedures. Provide coordination of community-led and systems-based suicide prevention activities across the Adelaide region. Engage with the Department of Health and Aged Care, SA Health, and other key partners to support local implementation, integration and reporting of activities under the National Bilateral Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement and other relevant funding suicide prevention agreements. Contribute to multi-stakeholder suicide prevention governance, planning or partnership groups, supporting shared decision-making, accountability and collaboration across sectors. Provide oversight of commissioned suicide prevention initiatives, including aftercare and other priority activities, ensuring effective contract management, performance monitoring and continuous quality improvement. Ensure the meaningful involvement of people with lived and living experience of suicide in planning, governance, commissioning and evaluation activities. Analyse and interpret suicide-related data, research and local intelligence to identify trends, gaps, priority populations and opportunities for prevention and early intervention. Develop and coordinate regional reporting and evaluation processes, including identifying key indicators to monitor impact, outcomes and system performance. Support the development and strengthening of regional care pathways and service integration, including pathways for people experiencing suicidal distress, those who have attempted suicide, and people bereaved by suicide. Managing high-risk contracts, including governance, compliance, risk, performance and financial management. This position will be offered as a temporary backfill until 28 May 2027. You may choose to work full-time, or 0.8 FTE part-time across a 4 or 5 day working week. There is flexibility to work from home 1 day per week once you are established in the role. Skills And Experiences About You To be successful in this role you’ll need: Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development, including working with people with lived experience, government, community organisations, and Local Health Networks. Proven project or program management experience in a suicide prevention and/or health, mental health or wellbeing context, including coordinating resources, managing contracts and meeting reporting requirements. Strong knowledge of suicide prevention systems, including community-based suicide prevention activities, psychosocial and post‑attempt supports. Experience contributing to or leading strategic planning, systems integration or reform initiatives within a complex service environment. Demonstrated experience in contract management (from either a service provider or funding body perspective), including: Expertise and experience in critical analysis of complex issues in human service delivery and service development and knowledge of the principles of commissioning from a primary health care perspective. Experience using collective impact or place-based approaches are highly desirable. You may have had experience in previous roles in the primary health sector such as: Mental Health Program Manager, Mental Health Clinician, Integration Coordinator, Suicide Prevention Project Officer, Mental Health Project Lead, Relationship Manager.
