These roles provide an opportunity to support current and former ADF members and their families through recovery-oriented, trauma-informed mental health support. We are offering initially as 12 month contract with possible extension, we are recruiting across the following locations: Cranbrook (QLD) Upper Mount Gravatt (QLD) Ipswich (QLD) Winnellie (NT) Hobart (TAS) Lismore (NSW) Newcastle (NSW) Surry Hills (NSW) Melbourne (VIC) Eastwood (SA) Elizabeth (SA) Phillip (ACT) About the Role As a Community and Peer Worker, you will: Provide personalised, goal-focused peer support to veterans, current ADF members, and their families. Collaboratively develop Individualised Action Plans addressing client goals and needs (e.g., housing, counselling, community connection). Use your lived experience to build rapport, empower clients, and model recovery-oriented practice. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to case reviews and co-facilitating group programs. Promote services within the veteran community and build networks with support organisations to reduce barriers to care. Maintain accurate, confidential records and administrative documentation. Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and peer networks. What We’re Looking For Essential: Lived experience of military service or military family life, and a mental health journey (including as a relative/carer of an ex-ADF member). Strong written and verbal communication skills. High integrity, emotional intelligence, and professionalism. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Highly Regarded: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent), or willingness to obtain. Experience delivering peer support services. Experience in the mental health sector or mentoring/coaching individuals. Mandatory Requirements Working with Children and/or Vulnerable People Check prior to commencement. Australian citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance. Successful completion of a pre-engagement screening check.
