Job Description Position Title: APS5 Community and Peer Worker Employment Type: Labour hire contract (approx 12 months with potential to extend) Location: Sydney, Newcastle, Lismore, Melbourne, Wodonga, Eastwood, Elizabeth, Canberra, Townsville, Mount Gravatt, Ipswich, Winnellie, Hobart, Launceston, Devonport Hourly Pay Rate: $61.18 – $63.76 per hour plus 12% superannuation Security Clearance/Requirements: Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Check required prior to commencement ABOUT THE ROLE A government agency is seeking APS5 Community and Peer Workers to join a national mental health services team. This role operates in a multidisciplinary environment, using lived experience of military service, family life, or personal mental health journeys to provide trauma-informed, recovery-focused peer support. The role involves providing personalised, goal-oriented support to clients, co-facilitating group programs, liaising with families and external services, and promoting community mental health programs. Professional development, supervision, and peer network opportunities are provided to ensure safe and evidence-based service delivery. There are multiple vacancies available in each location. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide personalised peer support under a structured model of care to clients experiencing mental health challenges. Collaboratively develop individual recovery plans, identifying client goals, needs, and strengths. Work within a multidisciplinary team, including participation in case review meetings and co-facilitation of group programs. Promote programs and build networks, liaising with key stakeholders to increase awareness of services. Maintain accurate records, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Participate in professional development, supervision, and peer networks to maintain evidence-based practice. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Lived experience of military service, family life, or personal mental health recovery. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain). Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills. High integrity, emotional intelligence, and accountability to confidentiality principles. Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing peer support in mental health or community services. ELIGIBILITY Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks required prior to commencement. Must be an Australian citizen at time of application.
