The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) is a key leadership role within the HR Function supporting the Head of Human Resources (HHR) and acting as a trusted strategic advisor on employee matters to senior leaders, managers, and employees. As a senior member of the HR function, the SHRBP provides direction, guidance, and coaching to ensure consistent, high quality delivery of HR initiatives and services. The role works collaboratively with human resources managers to embed programs and frameworks and has specific accountability for employee relations matters, workforce planning business support, performance management, diversity and inclusion, HR policy review and design. This role operates within a matrix environment and works with all levels of the organisation including the Senior Management Group (comprising Section Heads, Branch Heads, and the AWM Director). The key duties of the position include Reporting to the Head of Human Resources this role will be responsible for providing daily leadership, support, coaching and advice on HR matters. The core responsibilities for this role are: Business and Employee Support Provide employees and managers with an available first point of contact for questions and guidance on HR topics and issues and to ensure they understand their responsibilities and obligations. Function as a trusted HR advisor to senior leaders to diagnose organisational needs and develop people-centric solutions that enable business performance and give consideration to the diverse range of stakeholder needs and operational contexts in which the Memorial and its people operate. Workforce Planning Assist with job design, team structure reviews, and classification of roles as required. Diversity and Inclusion Support the review of the Memorial's diversity and inclusion strategy and provide recommendations for the development and implementation of continuous improvements and initiatives. Analyse diversity and inclusion data and metrics to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Partner with human resource managers and business leaders to embed inclusive practices across the full employee lifecycle - recruitment, onboarding, development, promotion, and retention. HR Policy and Reporting Support the Head of HR in the review and maintenance of the suite of policies and supporting documents to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance. Ensure that policies and processes promote fairness, accessibility, and cultural safety. Contribute to HR quarterly and other reporting - including but not limited to response to Senate Estimates and Questions on Notice. Develop reports for Executive and Council covering HR activities as required, which may include the preparation of complex and/or sensitive correspondence, corporate documents, submissions, proposal papers. Employee Relations Conduct a review of the HR delegation's manual and provide recommendations that support increased decision-making empowerment at the local level. Provide sound, accurate advice and support regarding conflict resolution, performance management, probation reviews, background check findings, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and policies. Manage complex employee relations issues including investigation of incidents, as assigned, and ensure appropriate procedural fairness and preparation of analysis and recommendations. Partner with the Head of Human Resources to actively contribute to enterprise bargaining activities, and assisting with consultation, planning, and implementation activities. Provide secretariate duties to the Workplace Relations Committee ensuring accurate capture of meeting minutes and actions.
