The Department is seeking an APS Level 6 Cloud Engineer to support the secure and reliable operation of key Microsoft cloud services, including Exchange Online, Exchange On-Premises, Microsoft Teams and Intune. The role maintains hybrid environments, ensures configuration meets ASD Secure Cloud requirements, and contributes to system monitoring, documentation and platform improvements. It also involves coordinating technical initiatives, engaging with network and security partners, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Highly desirable qualities include 5 years' enterprise-level experience with Microsoft cloud services and strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, vendors and service providers. The key duties of the position include Support the management, configuration and operation of Microsoft cloud and on premises services, including Exchange Online, Exchange On Premises, Microsoft Teams and Intune. Deliver planned technology initiatives on time, ensuring compliance with security requirements and minimising operational impacts. Maintain clear, accurate and up to date technical and procedural documentation for all supported systems. Manage and maintain the configuration of email and collaboration platforms to ensure they remain secure, reliable and available for business critical functions. Apply Australian Government security standards-particularly the ASD Blueprint for Secure Cloud-when configuring and maintaining supported platforms. Oversee the lifecycle of managed mobile devices, including provisioning, updates, maintenance and decommissioning. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, vendors and service providers to support high quality network and security service outcomes. Use monitoring tools and established processes to ensure the continuous availability, performance and stability of Microsoft platforms and related infrastructure. Ensure all work aligns with departmental architecture, cyber security strategies, roadmaps, policies and standards. Communicate effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible information. Ensure proposed technical solutions meet business requirements, and contribute to knowledge sharing, capability uplift and skill development within the team.
