Your Role Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victoria’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. Applications are invited to join our Home Based and Kinship Care team in the role of Caseworker Children’s Cultural Care. Caseworkers Home Based Care support and work with extended family and carers to provide the best care arrangements for Aboriginal children unable to live with their own parents, due to statutory intervention. In this role you will work with the families and both internal and external stakeholders to establish, monitor and strengthen supports, for the Kinship Care and Home Based Care placements, ensuring each child’s ongoing safety, stability and developmental needs are met. This is permanent full time position based at our Mildura office location. Key Selection Criteria Knowledge and understanding of Victorian Child Safe Standards. Experience in the case management of complex children, youth and families and knowledge of the Kinship Care, Kinship Reunification, Out of Home Care system, and Child Protection statutory requirements. Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people, both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals. Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services Qualification/s: Minimum relevant Certificate IV of Community Services.
