Job Description SHORT JOB DESCRIPTION An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join the team at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd. YOUR ROLE The Finance, Infrastructure and Digital (FID) directorate plays a critical role in enabling MACS’ operational and strategic priorities through strong financial stewardship, secure and future-ready infrastructure, and digital transformation. Within this function, the School Finance Team, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, provides strategic financial and commercial partnering to schools, strengthening financial management and long-term sustainability. As MACS moves to the next phase of its Finance Business Partner model, the role continues to evolve into a specialised financial partner operating within a strategically enabled School Finance team that elevates financial insights and decision-making. Reporting to a Regional Finance Manager, the Finance Business Partner delivers high-quality financial advice, analysis and forward-looking, data-informed guidance to schools, working in partnership with regional leadership and supported by centralised financial leadership and the updated Finance RACI to ensure consistent, coordinated and informed outcomes across primary, secondary and specialist settings. This opportunity is open to internal applicants only who are currently employed within the MACS Office School Finance team. WHAT YOU WILL DO Build and maintain strong and credible relationships with school and regional leadership teams across primary, secondary and specialist schools as assigned to this role including school visits. Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to the school leadership teams by delivering proactive, forward-looking insights that support sound decision making and promote long-term financial sustainability. Deliver core financial management activities for schools, including periodical reporting and KPI monitoring, cashflow management. annual budgets and forecasts, variance analysis and year-end finance activities for schools, ensuring accuracy, compliance and alignment with organisational policies and guidelines. Provide clear, actionable insights into school financial performance by identifying key performance drivers and assessing and highlighting risks and opportunities. Develop and maintain long-term financial plans for schools, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and supporting financial sustainability. Identify and escalate complex issues related to school financial management and non-compliance to the Regional Finance Manager. Support finance related change initiatives and school specific projects, including system implementations, feasibility assessments, policy changes and foster a work environment of continuous review and improvement. ABOUT YOU Demonstrated effective teamwork skills, with experience in contributing to a high-performing and collaborative Business Partnering team. Expertise in fiscal management with a solid understanding of financial performance and reports. Experience in non-profit and government grants environment preferred. Proven capability and experience in proactively engaging and maintaining effective working relationships with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels. Experience within education or a similar industry in a dynamic, ambiguous, and changing work environment with ability to influence and inform key stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to convey complex information clearly, create and present high-level presentations, analytical and conceptual skills. Proven ability to provide timely and best practice advice to support critical decision-making clearly and concisely.
