About This Opportunity The School of Social Science is seeking an Associate Lecturer to co-deliver CRIM1000 Introduction to Criminology in Semesters 1 and 2 2026. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching within the criminology program and actively engage in the collegial life of the School as a UQ citizen. This appointment is intended for a School of Social Science HDR student who is seeking employment subsidiary to their studies. It is suited to an HDR student with an emerging teaching profile and a commitment to innovative, student-centred learning. Due to the short-term, teaching-intensive nature of this Brisbane-based role, applicants will be required to work on campus at the St Lucia campus for the duration of the appointment. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Teaching: Contribute to the continuous improvement and delivery of high-quality criminology programs by coordinating and teaching courses across formats, supporting assessment design and marking, providing academic guidance to students, and ensuring compliance with University teaching and learning policies. Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ values and the UQ Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, while undertaking required administrative responsibilities and providing collegial support. This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position until December 2026 at Academic Level A. About You Substantial progress towards a PhD in criminology or a related field as a student enrolled in the School of Social Science. Evidence of quality contributions to teaching. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in teaching teams. Capability to use online learning systems and platforms (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles).
