The Client Our client is a small but growing public practice with big plans. They have been growing organically and via acquisition. They have a small number of audit clients and are looking to grow out the audit practice and find someone who can help them achieve this goal. You will inherit a small amount of fee with clients mostly in the for-purpose sector or higher profile public companies. If you are a small practitioner and are looking to join a larger, growing business, there is the option to discuss acquiring your current audit clients. The Role Engagement Oversight: Directing all phases of an audit, review, or compilation engagement to ensure they meet Australian Auditing Standards (ASA) and relevant legislation. Signing Authority: Carrying the ultimate responsibility for signing off on the audit report on behalf of the partnership. Business Development: Managing an existing client portfolio while actively identifying and securing new business opportunities to meet firm revenue targets. Stakeholder Management: Acting as the key point of contact for client boards, audit committees, and senior management. Risk & Quality Control: Implementing and monitoring quality control procedures at the engagement level to provide reasonable assurance of compliance with ethical and professional standards. Leadership & Mentorship: Overseeing the recruitment, training, and professional development of junior staff and managers. The ideal candidate Qualifications: A degree in Commerce or Business (majoring in Accounting) and full membership in a recognized professional body such as Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) or CPA Australia. Experience: 8-10 years of experience in external audit, including significant time at the Senior Manager or Director level. Regulatory Knowledge: Deep expertise in Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and the Corporations Act 2001 . Rotation Compliance: Adherence to mandatory audit partner rotation requirements, which generally mandate a cooling-off period after seven years of serving a Public Interest Entity (PIE). Strategic Thinking: Ability to drive firm growth and manage complex commercial risks. Technical Excellence: Advanced knowledge of audit methodologies and emerging digital audit technologies (e.g., data analytics and AI).
