Positioned in the historic township of Strathalbyn, the health service is an easy 20 minute drive from Mt Barker. Mt Barker District Soldiers Memorial Hospital is located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, a 25 minute drive from Adelaide CBD via the Southern Freeway. The hospital opened a spacious new Emergency Department in mid 2023, includes a 3 bed EECU and 23 bed inpatient unit for general medical and elective surgery patients and will open a new 103 bed hospital in late 2027. About the role This role will be part of the SA Pharmacy team working in the Hills subregion of the BHFLHN, based at on-site at Strathalbyn and Mt Barker hospitals. The team provides remote support to BHFLHN patients in other sites when required, and collaborates to ensure patients receive clinical pharmacy expertise during their admission and at transitions of care. The SA Pharmacy team throughout Barossa Hills Fleurieu LHN is welcoming and supportive, and the LHN is an exciting place to work due to population growth, associated developments and service expansion. The Senior Pharmacist provides clinical services to acute inpatients of both hospitals, working closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams in a supportive, respectful multi-disciplinary team. As a Senior Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the organisation, management, and operation of the clinical pharmacy service, delivering a broad and high-level range of pharmacy services. This role calls for the use of independent and autonomous judgement in providing medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients, medical and nursing staff, and other health professionals, all in line with hospital and divisional policies, procedures, and professional pharmacy standards. You will play a pivotal role in optimising patient outcomes by ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-conscious use of pharmaceuticals. Through your expertise, you will implement strategies that promote the highest standards of pharmaceutical care, supporting both patients and multidisciplinary teams. About You You will be a dedicated and highly skilled Pharmacist with strong clinical knowledge and leadership capability. Qualifications and registration: Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, with comprehensive knowledge of relevant professional standards and codes of practice. Clinical expertise and experience: Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, with proven competence and the ability to apply evidence-based knowledge to optimise patient outcomes. Leadership and service improvement: Demonstrated leadership, supervisory or management experience, with the ability to guide teams, supervise and educate staff, and lead initiatives that improve service delivery and quality use of medicines. Communication and problem solving: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational abilities and attention to detail, with a proven capacity to work autonomously, analyse and interpret data, solve complex problems and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
