The Commission's core mission is to promote and protect the welfare of greyhounds, safeguard the integrity of racing, and maintain public confidence in the industry. We are now creating a talent pool of capable Veterinarians for roles across the Commission over the next 18 months! About the role Join our team of over 20 Veterinary Officers who are dedicated to supporting the Commission by delivering independent regulatory veterinary services at greyhound racing tracks throughout NSW. In this role, you will ensure the dogs are fit to race, provide timely and appropriate treatment of racing injuries, and offer expert advice to support compliance with animal welfare standards across the greyhound racing industry. As a GWIC Veterinary Officer, you will assess the health and fitness of greyhounds before and after races and manage any injuries in accordance with best practice. You will work closely with the Chief Veterinary Officer, Stewards and industry stakeholders to uphold and continuously improve welfare outcomes for racing greyhounds. You will also contribute to the research, analysis and development of policies, procedures and education regarding greyhound health and welfare. This role is a shift worker and requires staff to work to a roster, including weekends and some public holidays, and may include travel to other Greyhound racing tracks across NSW . About You You are a dedicated veterinary professional with a strong commitment to animal welfare. You possess a clear understanding of the regulatory environment governing greyhound racing and can make sound, independent decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure situations. Proactive and well organised, you work collaboratively with Stewards and other industry representatives. You are committed to maintaining high standards of care and ongoing professional development within your field. You must be registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW and previous clinical or racetrack experience with greyhounds is highly desirable (however not mandatory), and able to work autonomously.
