The key duties of the position include The Role The Senior Mechanical Inspection Specialist (SMIS) is responsible for Mechanical Inspection and Quality Control under limited direction from the Leader Mechanical Fabrication Capability. The SMIS will be responsible for developing and maintaining the inspection capability with regard to execution, process, and equipment. The SMIS will be responsible for performing and collaboration with design, engineering and fabrication staff on Inspection, reverse engineering, and assembly activities Position Duties: The Senior Mechanical Inspection Specialist will be expected to apply their knowledge and experience in mechanical inspection to: Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies using a range of tools and techniques, both manual and computer-aided; Deliver high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations that clearly communicate the results of inspections and testing, and provide recommendations for improvement; Perform reverse engineering and modelling activities utilising 3D scanning equipment and software; Investigate and address issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes, such as non-conformities, and quality control issues; and propose corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence; Lead the maintenance and calibration activities for the mechanical inspection capability; Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in measurement and testing technologies, incorporating new methods and best practices into the quality control process as appropriate.
