About the team Sitting within the Corporate and Strategy Division, the Strategy, Engagement and Research Branch is focused on: national and international online safety regulations, policies and initiatives engaging with industry, international stakeholders and thought leaders achieving demonstrable change with Safety by Design by encouraging industry to take a proactive approach to anticipating, detecting and mitigating online risks understanding the nature and impact of online harms building the evidence-base for what works to prevent and remediate online harms. The Research and Evaluation team focuses on supporting, encouraging, conducting and evaluating research about online safety for Australians. We do this so: our programs, policies and regulatory functions are evidence-informed robust, person-centred evidence on the prevalence and impact of online harms is available to stakeholders the evidence base on what works to prevent and remediate online harms continues to grow. We work in a highly collaborative way to enrich our research and evaluation design and products, drawing on the strengths of different individuals within the team. About the role As a Senior Evaluation Officer , you will work alongside an established mixed methods research and evaluation team to deliver projects that inform strategy, policy, and program development in response to critical online safety issues. You will lead the design and delivery of eSafety's evaluation activities, applying rigorous methodologies to produce high quality, evidence based insights. These insights will drive continuous improvement, strengthen program effectiveness, and inform strategic and executive decision making across the organisation. The key duties of the position include designing and delivering high quality evaluations for eSafety's regulatory and education initiatives, ensuring methodological rigour, relevance, and alignment with organisational priorities leading end to end mixed methods evaluation projects, including evaluation design, development of logic models and evaluation frameworks, data collection, analysis, synthesis, and translation of findings into actionable insights conducting literature reviews, environmental scans and desk research to inform evaluation design, policy development, and continuous improvement, and preparing concise, high quality evidence summaries preparing clear, engaging evaluation reports, briefings and presentations for internal and external audiences, including contributions to peer reviewed publications leading the management of external evaluation consultancies, including scoping, procurement processes, contract management, and quality assurance of deliverables managing, mentoring, and coaching junior evaluation staff, to support capability development and quality performance working proactively and collaboratively with staff across eSafety and external partners to co design and deliver evaluations, leveraging expertise and best practice approaches supporting a strong culture of learning and evaluation through participatory evaluation approaches, knowledge sharing, and evaluation capability building activities staying informed of emerging trends and methodologies in evaluation and applying innovative approaches to strengthen eSafety's evaluation capability providing high level analytical, operational, and administrative support to the Director, Research and Evaluation, including contributing to planning and reporting activities. Essential qualifications and experience: Tertiary qualifications in evaluation, public policy, social sciences or a related field, where research methods and their application were a key component of the coursework (postgraduate qualifications highly desirable). 5 years of professional experience in applied evaluation roles, including leading complex evaluations.
