We are seeking a compassionate Financial Counsellor to provide a holistic, confidential and non-judgemental financial counselling services, with a strong focus on helping people in the rental market build skills and confidence to sustain their tenancy. This is role sits at the heart of housing stability. You’ll support people experiencing financial difficulties to regain control, understand their options, and create realistic pathways forward. Key Responsibulities Provide one-on-one financial counselling to clients, assessing their financial situation and developing strategies for debt management. Support clients to manage debt, budgeting challenges and financial hardship. Advocate on behalf of clients with creditors, financial institutions, Government departments, and service providers. Assist tenants to understand their rights and responsibilities. Develop practical plans to strengthen tenancy sustainability. Provide education and information to improve their money management skills. Deliver financial capability education that build long-term confidence. About You You’re empathetic, calm and empowering in your approach. You meet people where they are, walk alongside them without judgement, and create a safe supportive environment for clients to build financial confidence and stability. You’ll bring: A Diploma of Financial Counselling or actively working towards. Eligibility for, or current registration with, the South Australian Financial Counsellors Association, including commitment to CPD and supervision. Strong interviewing and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with clients experiencing financial distress. Effective conflictresolution and negotiation skills, with a talent for finding practical and creative solutions. Ability to interpret and summarise complex information - such as legislation, contracts and policies - and explain it clearly to clients. Solid understanding of financial counselling practices, including budgeting, preparing financial management plans, and identifying debtmanagement and appeal options. Knowledge of legislation and frameworks relating to credit and debt issues affecting people in financial stress. For this role, you will need to: Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check Be eligible to work in Australia. Be willing to work between the span hours of 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4–5-star ANCAP safety rating.
