About the role As the Laboratory Supervisor , you will play a critical role in supporting safe, compliant and high-quality processing operations at the Mount Carlton Process Plant operation. Reporting to the Process Manager, you will lead day-to-day laboratory activities while fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring data integrity and developing a capable, engaged laboratory team. This is a hands-on leadership role that sits at the interface of operations, metallurgy and external service providers, ensuring laboratory services consistently meet operational and reporting requirements. This role will be offered on a Max Term Full Time Contract and will see you work a 5/2 Roster. This role will be DIDO/BIBO from the Townsville Region. Accommodation and Meals are supplied whilst on site. Duties will include but not be limited to:- Provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to a small team of Laboratory Technicians, supporting team development, capability uplift and a positive working culture. Ensure all sample collection, preparation, testing and reporting is completed accurately and within required daily, weekly and monthly timeframes. Audit and optimise sampling points, frequencies and methods in collaboration with Metallurgy and Operations. Provide timely analytical feedback to support real-time process control and metallurgical decision-making. Maintain compliance with relevant standards, site procedures and regulatory requirements relating to laboratory operations, chemicals and hazardous substances compliance, knowledge retention and effective training. Support the Metallurgical team by coordinating laboratory involvement in metallurgical trials and improvement projects. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coverage are maintained to support continuous operations. To be successful in this role, you will have:- Post-secondary or tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Metallurgy or a related discipline S1, S2, S3 / G2 – Supervisor Certification Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate information across all levels.
