As our highly valued Technical Business Analyst based in Brisbane your role will be pivotal in connecting business intent to reusable, well-designed API services across Great Southern Bank. Your role exists to ensure the business context, value, and intended use of APIs are clearly understood, documented, and prioritised, enabling teams to deliver integration solutions that are reusable, scalable, and aligned to enterprise strategy. You’ll make an impact by: Business & API Use Case Analysis •Partner with business stakeholders to understand customer journeys, business processes, and domain needs that drive API demand. •Define and document API use cases, including intended consumers, business outcomes, and value hypotheses. •Translate business needs into clear, technically actionable requirements that API teams can design and deliver against. •Ensure requirements balance immediate delivery needs with long-term reuse and platform sustainability. •Act as a trusted advisor on when to reuse existing APIs versus introducing new services. API Reuse, Product Thinking & Architecture Alignment •Promote APIs as reusable enterprise services rather than point-to-point integrations. •Work closely with Solution and Enterprise Architects to align API requirements to domain models, integration patterns, and the enterprise blueprint. •Identify opportunities for reuse, consolidation, or extension of existing APIs. •Help shape API boundaries, ownership, and lifecycle considerations from a business and consumer perspective. •Support consistent application of standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices. Technical Documentation & Communication •Produce high-quality technical and functional documentation, including API use cases, service definitions, data contracts, and consumption guidelines. •Ensure documentation is clear, current, and accessible to technical and non-technical stakeholders. •Translate complex technical concepts into language that supports informed business decision-making. •Maintain shared artefacts that support onboarding, reuse, and operational understanding of APIs. Delivery Planning, Demand & Team Enablement •Support short- to medium-term planning for the API team, helping shape backlog priorities and delivery sequencing. •Work with the Senior Manager API, engineers, and delivery leads to manage demand, capacity, and dependencies. •Contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritisation activities. •At times, perform light Scrum Master or delivery facilitation activities, supporting team ceremonies, flow, and continuous improvement. •Ensure delivery plans are realistic, transparent, and aligned to agreed business outcomes. Delivery & Change Support •Support delivery teams across the lifecycle, from discovery through build, test, and release. •Clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, and business intent as delivery progresses. •Assist with impact analysis for changes, incidents, and defects involving APIs. •Partner with engineers and testers to validate behaviour, edge cases, and non-functional expectations. •Continuously improve analysis, documentation, and planning practices across the API team. Do things differently with us To succeed in this role, you will have: We value strong business judgement, technical fluency, and collaboration. You don’t need to meet every requirement below — capability and mindset matter most. •7 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role in complex technology environments. •Strong experience working with APIs, integrations, or distributed systems in a business-facing analysis role. •Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technically precise requirements and documentation. •Experience partnering closely with engineers and architects in agile or hybrid delivery environments. •Exposure to backlog management, delivery planning, or Scrum Master-style facilitation. •Experience in regulated environments (e.g. financial services) is highly regarded. •Understanding of core banking, digital platforms, or enterprise data domains is advantageous.
